Course Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to deepen your understanding of the critical importance of disability-inclusive approaches in disaster risk reduction and management. Moreover, this course will provide you with practical ways on how to implement DiDRR in the Philippine setting, and also at the local level – at the provincial, city/ municipality and barangay levels. Over the course modules, key concepts, strategies, and best practices on DiDRR will be tackled.

Target Course Takers

DRR policy makers are the primary change agents in the community; thus, this course is designed for policy makers at the national and local levels. National policy makers include staff, heads and officials of the Office of the Civil Defense and members of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Local policy makers include councilors and chief executives (governor, mayors, and barangay captains).

As DiDRR needs a concerted effort, this course also targets disability policy makers, organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), disability advocates and their allies, nonprofit organizations, foundations, humanitarian workers and other private organizations involved in disaster resilience initiatives.

Whether you already consider yourself an expert or a newbie on DiDRR, this course is for you. It is because – LAHAT DAPAT HANDA!
